Ladder safety and the risks involved with using a ladder

Most people have the need to access a roof at some time for a variety of reasons. With the advent of much lighter aluminium ladders it is necessary to secure the ladder at a fixed location to minimise the risk of an incident. Ladder accidents can occur due to movement of the ladder while ascending/descending the ladder, stepping off the ladder onto the roof, or stepping from the roof onto the ladder. Additionally, it is not uncommon for domestic users or sole traders to become stranded on the roof due to the ladder being accidently knocked away or blown sideways off the gutter by a gust of wind.

Australian solution to safely secure ladders

Larard Engineering Pty Ltd have designed and manufactured a ladder safety device, the CQR Ladder Clamp, which clamps onto the gutter and simultaneously secures the ladder in position with a specifically designed ladder securing bracket. The registered Australian design has been manufactured locally through our Australian manufacturing partner.

Ladder cannot be knocked away from the gutter

When the ladder is correctly positioned with base and attitude angle established, the CQR Ladder Clamp ensures that it cannot move away from the gutter because of the securing bracket.

Removes lateral ladder movement

With the ladder safely secured by the CQR Ladder Clamp, lateral movement becomes negligable. This provides a stable platform for the operator to safely access the roof. In addition, the ladder cannot be removed from the ground because the ladder rungs will not travel through the CQR Ladder Clamp, in effect locking the ladder to the gutter.

Only seconds needed to safely secure the ladder

The CQR Ladder Clamp is a securing device that requires only a few seconds to position and lock into position. A key aspect of the design was to simplify the locking process to make it as safe as possible. The Clamp’s Cam lock system is central to its quick and effective locking process.
The CQR Ladder Clamp can be easily hooked in a belt, tool belt, or pocket, ensuring both hands are free to climb the ladder safely.

One or two clamps can be used

A single CQR Ladder Clamp is required to secure single extension ladders used for general residential domestic and trade work. Industrial applications where more than one extension stage is used, a clamp is required on both sides of the ladder.

The CQR Ladder Clamps are available in Left handed and Right handed configurations for locking the ladder into position from either the left or right side of the ladder, or both.

The CQR Ladder Clamp can be purchased below as a single unit, which are configured for right-side or left-side fixing, or you can purchase a pair of units.
