Ian Larard, Owner and Chief Designer of Larard Engineering, has spent 33 years in the buiding industry as a tradesman and employer. During this period, Ian has seen first-hand the uncertainity of ladder use in day-to-day work. Ladder safety was always a factor to consider when accessing a roof for any reason.
The low-friction contact point between a ladder and gutter creates a risk for the ladder to be knocked sideways or blown back by winds, leaving a person stranded on the roof or even injured. A person working alone in a remote site is most exposed to these risks.
As a direct result of this first-hand experience, Ian has developed a ladder safety device, the CQR Ladder Clamp, which minimises the risks associated with accessing roofs by ladder.
The CQR Ladder Clamp has been developed and refined over the last 8 years. During this time the CQR Ladder Clamp has been repeatedly trialled and tested to ensure that the securing of a ladder can be done quickly and safely, without complicated fixings.
For more information about the device itself, please go to the CQR Ladder Clamp page.
